Davis & Gilbert Maintains Excellent Rankings in Chambers USA 2016; Five Practice Areas Recognized

New York, NY, June 20, 2016 – Davis & Gilbert achieved strong results in the 2016 edition of Chambers USA, earning five practice group rankings, 13 individual lawyer rankings, and a “star individual” mention. The firm received practice group recognition in the following areas in the 2016 edition: Advertising, Intellectual Property, Labor & Employment, Real Estate and Retail, as well as individual attorney recognition in the Media & Entertainment and Privacy & Data Security categories.

For the 11th consecutive year, the firm was awarded a Band 1 ranking in the nationwide category of Advertising: Transactional & Regulatory, with Chambers noting the firm’s “renowned” practice and clients praising its attorneys’ ability to provide “very practical” advice based on “extensive industry knowledge” and strong “business judgment.” Clients described the group’s advice as “invaluable,” and its attorneys as both “approachable and understandable.”

In addition to the firm recognition, four partners were ranked individually in the Advertising category:

Additionally, Digital Media, Technology & Privacy partner Gary A. Kibel was again identified as a “noted practitioner” in the nationwide Privacy & Data Security category.

Media & Entertainment
Davis & Gilbert entertainment partner James L. Johnston (Band 3) was recognized again in the New York category for Media & Entertainment: Film & Television. Mr. Johnston won client praise for being “invaluable in a negotiation,” and for his ability to be the “steady voice of reason” in times of crisis.

Intellectual Property: Trade Mark & Copyright
Davis & Gilbert garnered a Band 3 ranking for the second consecutive year in the New York category for Intellectual Property: Trade Mark & Copyright. According to clients, the practice’s attorneys practice a “very pragmatic” approach and are “very responsive” when handling clients’ business needs.

Intellectual Property/Advertising, Marketing & Promotions partner Jeffrey C. Katz (Band 3) and Intellectual Property/Litigation partner Marc J. Rachman (Band 3) were also each ranked individually for Intellectual Property.

Labor & Employment
The firm’s Labor & Employment practice group was ranked in the Labor & Employment category in New York for the fourth year in a row, earning a Band 4 ranking. One client remarked that the group’s attorneys are dedicated to customer service and “not only give [clients] the best legal advice, [but] also want [them] to know the reason behind it.” Another client noted that they “are very responsive, super thorough, [and] easy to get along with,” and added that “the relationship is always positive.”

Real Estate
Davis & Gilbert’s Real Estate practice group was ranked for the 10th consecutive year, earning a Band 4 ranking in the New York category of Real Estate: Mainly Dirt. The publication commended the group’s “extensive experience” in negotiating and renegotiating leases for retail and office space as well as its work on transactional matters, including acquisitions, dispositions and financings. Real Estate partner Gerald R. Uram was also ranked (Band 2).

For the third year, the firm was ranked in the Nationwide Retail category (Band 3), with particular attention given to its attorneys’ knowledge in the retail leasing space and for its extensive roster of household name retail brands. Chambers also mentioned the firm’s Advertising and IP practices, noting that it is “well-versed in assisting high-end retailers with advertising campaigns and IP enforcement matters” and that it “demonstrates further talent across FDA compliance and social-media related issues.”

Along with Robert A. Karin and Jeffrey A. Moross, who were mentioned in the Retail category, Joseph J. Lewczak was also noted this year.
