Cardozo Law School’s Semi-Annual Fashion Law Symposium:
The Latest in Brand Marketing and Legal Compliance

Davis & Gilbert is proud to be working with The Heyman Center on Corporate Governance, The Cardozo Intellectual Property Law Society, and The Cardozo Cyberlaw Society to present Cardozo Law School’s Semi-Annual Fashion Law Symposium. This year’s symposium is entitled “The Latest in Brand Marketing and Legal Compliance” and is comprised of three separate panels of experts each discussing timely issues in brand marketing and legal compliance for fashion and beauty companies:

Branded Entertainment, Product Placement and Viral Technology: This panel will explore how fashion and beauty brands are using entertainment content, sponsorships and PR strategies to align with film, television and music properties and personalities on and off the red carpet in all forms of marketing communications. James L. Johnston, Davis & Gilbert Advertising, Marketing & Promotions Partner, will moderate this panel.

Mobile Marketing: This panel will cover the specific legal considerations, industry best practices and technological peculiarities that must be considered whenever engaging in a mobile marketing campaign or promotion. This session will also address recent litigations by consumers who claim to have received illegal text messages from fashion retailers in violation of the Telephone Consumer Protection Act. Joseph J. Lewczak, Davis & Gilbert Advertising, Marketing & Promotions Partner, will moderate this panel.

False Advertising & Deceptive Marketing Practices: Trends in Litigation and Governmental Enforcement Actions: This panel will provide an overview of recent trends in governmental investigations and litigation stemming from deceptive marketing and advertising practices affecting the fashion and beauty industries. Ina B. Scher, Davis & Gilbert Litigation Partner, will moderate this panel.
