Darren Fried is counsel in the Advertising, Marketing & Promotions; Entertainment, Media & Sports and Intellectual Property Practice Groups of Davis & Gilbert. Mr. Fried's practice focuses on media companies, advertisers, advertising agencies, public relations agencies and other entities in connection with many areas of advertising, music, marketing and entertainment.

Mr. Fried has considerable experience in drafting and negotiating a variety of complex agreements, including agency/client agreements, live event agreements, talent contracts, branding partnerships, music production agreements and music licenses. He regularly counsels global, domestic and local companies on issues relating to all aspects of contract interpretation and enforcement as well as intellectual property, including copyright, trademark and rights of publicity.

Prior to joining Davis & Gilbert, Mr. Fried was Counsel at Razor & Tie, a large, independently owned record label and entertainment company where he handled a full spectrum of transactional work, including negotiating and drafting record deals, production agreements, manufacturing and distribution deals and content acquisition licenses. Mr. Fried was also a litigation attorney at Hughes Hubbard & Reed LLP.

REPRESENTATIVE ENGAGEMENTS

  • Negotiated several agency/client agreements for global advertising and media engagements covering advertising spends of more than $1 billion each.
  • Negotiated original music production agreements on behalf of a national fast food chain.
  • Drafted a brand ambassador and live performance agreement between an American Idol winner and a consumer products company.
  • Negotiated live activation agreements between a promotional agency and several professional sports organizations, including an NBA team and the Professional Bull Riders.
  • Drafted media sales agreements for a major U.S. cable network.
  • Negotiated agency/client agreements with multi-billion dollar advertisers, including in the financial services sector, as well as gaming, healthcare, packaged goods, fast food and luxury goods, among many others.
  • Negotiated a settlement and buy out between a privately-held restaurant group and a former partner.
  • Negotiated a sponsorship agreement on behalf of a major multi-national corporation and the Governors Ball Music Festival.
