Mark E. Maltz is co-chair and the assigning partner of the Real Estate Practice Group of Davis & Gilbert. He represents clients in all types of complex commercial real estate transactions across the country, including financings, dispositions, acquisitions, and commercial leases. Mr. Maltz is responsible for overseeing the real estate attorneys, administering the real estate practice group, and ensuring that all client matters are staffed as efficiently and effectively as possible.

A significant portion of Mr. Maltz’s work is devoted to representing building owners and tenants in their office and retail leasing needs. During the past several years, he has handled some of the largest lease transactions in New York City on behalf of landlords and tenants. Mr. Maltz represents prominent real estate owners and Fortune 500 companies. His clients include Bell Canada, The Carlyle Group, Kohlberg Kravis Roberts, Invesco, Kushner Companies, Monday Properties, Raymour & Flanigan, Rockwood Capital, SL Green Realty, RXR Realty, Trinity Real Estate, Union Investment Real Estate, Unite Here, Simpson Thacher & Bartlett, Aspen Insurance and WPP Group.

Mr. Maltz is also recognized for his unique experience in handling switch facility and data center lease transactions and communications licenses on behalf of both owners and tele-communications companies.

Mr. Maltz has been recognized by The Legal 500 United States in the area of real estate (2014-2016). He has also been recognized by The Best Lawyers in America in real estate law (2013-2017) and was selected as a Super Lawyer by New York Metro Super Lawyers (2008-2016).

REPRESENTATIVE ENGAGEMENTS

  • Represented Group M Worldwide, Inc. in the leasing of over 750,000 square feet at 3 World Trade Center in New York City. This transaction was one of the largest commercial office leases completed in 2013.
  • Represented an AmLaw 100 law firm in a lease renewal and restructuring of the firm’s New York City headquarters location totaling approximately 600,000 square feet.
  • Represented Young & Rubicam in the purchase of a commercial condominium unit and leasing of additional premises (totaling 340,000 square feet) at 3 Columbus Circle, New York City.
  • Represented Young & Rubicam in the sale of their headquarters building, 285 Madison Avenue in New York City.
  • Represented Trinity Real Estate in a 6 million-square-foot portfolio of multiple buildings in Hudson Square in connection with construction and service-related contracts.
  • Represents the owners of commercial buildings in New York City, including 140 Broadway, 230 Park Avenue, 140 East 45th Street, 275 Seventh Avenue, 75 Varick Street, 711 Third Avenue, Tower 45, Chrysler Center, 520 Madison, and Dumbo Center in connection with all sizes of lease related transactions and ancillary agreements.
  • Represented Tishman Speyer in lease restructurings with The Lazard Group and Baker Hostetler.
  • Represented The Ogilvy Group in its headquarters lease transaction for the entire building at 636 11th Avenue, New York City.
  • Represented Grey Global Group in its headquarters lease transaction for approximately 400,000 square feet at 200 Fifth Avenue, New York City.
  • Represented the owner in the securitized refinancing of 275 Seventh Avenue, New York City.
  • Represented Young & Rubicam in the leasing of the entire building at 230 Park Avenue South, New York City.
  • Represented Mastercard International in the purchase of its headquarters facility in Purchase, NY.
  • Represented Williams Communications in the leasing of 225,000 square feet for its switch facility at 601 West 26th Street, New York City.
  • Represented the owner of Seven Hanover Square, New York City in the headquarters lease transaction with Guardian Life.
  • Represented Equitable Life in the lease restructuring of approximately 600,000 square feet of 1285 Avenue of the Americas, New York City to UBS.
  • Represented Raymour & Flanigan in multiple flagship store lease transactions.
  • Served as a party arbitrator in a fair market rent dispute in connection with a New York City lease.
  • Represented Tishman Speyer in two new anchor tenant development buildings in Long Island City, Queens.
