William B. Szanzer is an associate in the Benefits & Compensation Practice Group of Davis & Gilbert.

Mr. Szanzer’s practice covers a broad range of legal issues related to employee benefit and compensation plans and programs, including retirement, health & welfare, deferred compensation and equity plans.

Mr. Szanzer has experience advising public and private companies of all sizes on:

  • Plan establishment and day-to-day plan management;
  • Qualified retirement plans, including defined contribution (401(k)) plans, defined benefit pension plans, cash balance plans and Employee Stock Ownership Plans (ESOPs);
  • Health and welfare plans, including self-insured medical plans, fully-insured medical plans, health savings accounts (HSAs), health reimbursement accounts (HRAs), dental plans, vision plans, health care flexible spending account plans, dependent care flexible spending account plans, disability plans, cafeteria plans, wellness programs, life insurance plans, and transportation plans;
  • Non-qualified deferred compensation plans, including phantom equity plans and other types of deferred compensation plans;
  • Equity compensation plans, including stock options, performance-based awards, restricted stock and cash awards, and other equity-based incentive plans;
  • Employment and severance agreements; and
  • Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (ACA) compliance.

Mr. Szanzer also has extensive experience handling employee benefit and compensation matters that arise in connection with mergers and acquisitions.

Prior to joining Davis & Gilbert, Mr. Szanzer was a Tax Senior in the Equity and Executive Compensation Groups at Ernst & Young LLP.
